Airline ? Locks/zipties

Can you still secure your luggage with zip ties or do you have to have the approved locks. I really don't care if they go into the bags, I just use the zip ties to keep the zippers from coming open during travel.

I use zip ties when i travel about 5 times a year, and pack a nail clippers to open them. never been a problem.

Yes, you can still use zip ties. They may not be there when you get your luggage back, though. Depends on whether or not whoever may get in your bags puts new ones on to replace the originals.

that is what I was planning on doing and have done in the past, but wasn't sure since all the new flight rules have come about.

 

I usually pack a pair of nail clippers in an outside pouch of my luggage:)

Ive even used pipe cleaners. Now that they allow small nail clippers, I'll use zip ties for the air, and use my TSA locks for the port.

we used zipties from Ny to Miami and they clipped the ties to check the luggage, put a note inside that the bag was inspected and put another set of zipties on.
