My family and I will be going on our second cruise this winter and our first with our very young son (18 months old around cruise time). I was wondering if any body could recommend a good excursion for us in Belize. My wife and I are pretty active and would like to do more than sit on the beach.

I am willing to hike and care the kid in his backpack.

He there. I am traveling with a 3 year old and a 21 month old, plus my parents. We are going to do the shark ray alley tour thru coral breeze. From what I understand the boat is covered, so there will be shade. I guess they pick you up at the village, there is a 45 minute boat ride to Caye Caulker to pick up equipt and drop off lunch order. Also, if we get on the boat at the village, and I think this is not for them, I (or gma and gpa)can get off at Caye Caulker and stay on the beach or shop. Then it takes you to 2 different spots to snorkle and swim w/ rays & nurse sharks. After that they take you back to Caye Caulker(where you can meet up if anyone decided to stay behind) for lunch and shopping time, then they take you back to the village so you can tender back to the ship. I just thought we could take turns being in the water and staying on the boat witht he little one. I will leave it up to my 3 yo (almost 4) if he wants to get in or not. If not, no big deal. NO WAY I am staying on the ship for this port. I refuse to believe this is a wasted port, as I have heard others say!:)

Last year we took our 1 yr old to Goffs Caye and had a great time I was able to snorkle the reef while my DH and DD hung out on the beach.

This year we are thinking of going to Coral Sands Beach whch has a snorkling tour, kayaks, etc.

We have also been to Altun Ha which was nce but the bus trip is loooooong so unless the little one is napping it could be a rather uncomfortable ride.

Wondering the same thing. We are taking our 1 year old next week. How did you get to Goffs Caye? Did you take a taxi or book thru the ship? I was concerned about booking any kind of tours in case she needs to go back to the ship.

We booked through the ship and I felt it was well worth it. We were able to board the excursion boat directly from the ship and it returned us to the ship as wel so we didn't have to tender in to the Tourism center, transfer to a tour boat, etc. plus no worries about getting back to the ship on time.

There is not a lot of shade on Goff's Caye so we took along one of these pop up cabanas which worked really well and takes up very little space. I would also recommend brining your own life jacket for your little one as they did not have infant vests avalable on the excursion boat and my DD wore hers to play in the water too.
