My husband and I are going on our first cruise in one week on Carnival Imagination. I am unsure if I have enough spending money I am bringing and would love any input or ideas on anything. My main question is how much are the drinks going to be?

You can figure on drinks being in the $4-7 range plus 15% tip, more is you get the special glass. The cost of the drinks goes on your sign and sail card which is charged to a credit card or cash deposit you place prior to getting on the ship. Peoples cruise accounts are all over the board. Since the tips are on the sign and sail, you will hear people spent between about $100 to well over a $1000 for the week (or 4-5 days).

 

The cash that you will need will be for tips other than included on and off the ship and you might need some off the ship for shopping etc.

Yes, these prices are fleet wide. If you're a wine drinker you might want to consider purchasing several bottles on the 1st day. They will keep them at what ever bar or transfer them between bars. This is what I do because I drink the Woodbridge Chardonnay and they almost always run out by the 5th or 6th day.

 

Sister and I usually budget about 100 day for our S&S charges and I take 100 a day for the Casino offering :rolleyes: for the days We're in port and 150-200 a day for the days we're at sea.

 

Any casino winnings are split between 1/2 going for more gambling and 1/2 to pay on the S&S card.

It can add up very fast if you don't watch your limit,i learned the hard way back in 1993 on The Celebration my liquor and wine bill was $1,300 for a seven day cruise and the tips was not added to your sign and sail card back then,the wine mark up is 3-5 times more than you pay in the liquor store and the liquor is even more.Paying the $10.00 corkage fee and bringing your own is worth it,eg...Mondavi Woodbridge cab cost me $6.00/750ml,with corkage thats $16.00,carnival charges $21.00 plus 15%.The days at sea is when you tend to drink more,unless you on your honeymoon or with your secretary.

Do you know that the cruise lines pay almost nothing for their alcohol drinks including beer?All taxes are exempt,so a can of beer cost them about 25-40 cents,rum around $3.00 bott etc..etc...that's why they feed you so much.
