colemonster Posted September 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2004 I have this cabin on hold for now. It seems to be very large at the very front of the ship. It is an outside cabin. Just curious if anyone has seen this cabin and has any opinions of it? Just wondering if it is worth the extra $$. Thanks!!
Mysteryreader Posted September 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2004 This is only a partial answer. We were in rm 6032. That's several cabins forward from the forward elevator. We never saw rm 6005. We did, however, like the location of 6032 (the verandah issue aside) b/c there was very little corridor traffic. Since the corridor dead ends (probably near 6005), the only traffic was that of pax who had cabins along that corridor. The steward Freddy (don't know how many cabins he had) was very friendly and attentive. (I wanted an extra towel--I got 4!) I have read that some pax dislike the forward part of the ship b/c it is a long hike to the restaurant. We didn't consider it all that long plus in spite of our good intentions it became a good part of our exercise for the wk. <bg> It is, however, under the Revelations Lounge (deck 11) which has the best forward view on the entire ship so it was most convenient for that purpose. lpal Posted September 30, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2004 We were in #6004 to Alaska which is exactly the same configuration. Huge room with great view to helicopter pad and beyond. We loved the room but on the one day when the seas were rough, we felt quite tossed around being at the very front of the ship. I would not choose this room for a cruise where seas are known to be rough or you are susceptible to nausea.
colemonster Posted September 30, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted September 30, 2004 Thanks for all the info. We are not prone to motion sickness and actually like feeling the movement of the ship. We tend to book cabins in the aft as we love the "wag of the tail" feeling, but are thinking about trying something forward out. Is the window on this cabin larger than other outsides? How nice is the view? Thanks!!
lpal Posted September 30, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2004 I think the window is the same size. It is round but has an outside frame that extends a couple of feet all around. Somewhat like a cone with the tip cut off. You are looking through the window from the large end of the cone. We took some great photos through it!
