Can you do Cayo levantado without a booked excursion

we were booked on the Cayo beach esacape but something happened with NCL and we got bumped off. we tried to rebook but its now sold out. we still want to go though . the NCl rep suggested begging the excursion desk once we get on board. has anyone hade any success with that route? is it is possible to still go to cayo levantado without booking a tour or is it a private island u need to book. also if we are stuck withouth this tour can anyoen recomend something similar we can do a relaxing beach day somewhere where we know we wont miss the boat at the end of the day. ????HELP???

I m familiar with the iland, people there are very friendly and always wheling to help. If you can,t booked tothe callo levantado, then take a tour whit the Amigos Horses and Crriages. Ask them to take you to the local beach which is a walking distance from the ferry... tell me how that goes!
