What to do in Split Croatia

Does anyone have any suggestions for a few hours in Split? Where does the ship dock in relationship to the town? Is there anything special to see or anywhere special to have lunch?

The ship docks walking distance from the main part of town. Definitely take a tour that explains all of the levels, nooks and crannies of Diocletian's Palace--a fascinating structure. There is also a good-sized flea market and interesting shops nearby, and the prices are relatively low. We didn't eat anything there except for some good gelato and pastries from stands and a shop on the waterfront near the ship. It is a small area and easy to stroll around. If you have enough time, a side trip by bus to the pretty town of Trogir is also worthwhile.
