For curosity, how many of you or do you know someone who has missed a cruise so far with the cancellation of so many flights lately???

Not a cruise, but my best friends son is graduating from Navy Boot Camp tomorrow and her flight from Dallas to Chicago was cancelled. She can fly from Midland to Dallas, but after that everything was cancelled. She is broken hearted.

We didn't miss the cruise, but it was scary. We flew on Continental to Los Angeles in 1998 for a cruise out of Long Beach. When we arrived in Houston (for our connection), the flight was cancelled and they couldn't accomodate us on ANY other flight. We had to get VERY creative. Continental put us on a 19 passenger express flight from Houston Intercontinental to Houston Hobby where we boarded Southwest Airlines (out of our pocket) on a flight via El Paso to Los Angeles where we finally arrived around 10pm at night. That was one loooong day but thankfully, we had planned on flying in the day before the cruise so we didn't miss the ship!

We fly out Sunday for a cruise leaving out of Puerto Rico... Normally we would fly out a day early.... Since this cruise doesn't leave till 10:30pm.. We decided to fly and board all in one day....

We are flying American Airlines.... So far all of American Airline's morning flights out of Albuquerque have been cancelled(Wednesday and Thursday)... Local newspaper is saying that it will carry over into Friday...

Something I decided to do last year that will help this year also is to fly in a couple days early to the city where the port is located. That way, if there are any delays, it won't matter so much. Nothing worse than arriving late when one needs to get to the port for embarkation.

My traveling companion and I will be arriving in New Orleans on Saturday the 26th. The ship doesn't leave until the 28th so if there are delays, at least it will be on the weekend.

And if by some chance the flight was cancelled, there is still enough time to manage to get down there.

Also, its nice getting to the port city early/prior to departure and having the vacation start. Almost like an appetizer!!
