Acey Posted April 12, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted April 12, 2008 Awesome info. Can you tell me if Saint John Alehouse is near where the ships dock?? thanks Boilerworks is located in Market Square on the waterfront - a 5 minute walk from both Pugsley and Long Wharf Terminals. It's a large brick complex - hard to miss - but there will be guides along the street to answer questions if you need help getting there. This is the part of the building they are in - restored waterfront warehouses : http://www.policenb.ca/images/city2.jpg
Acey Posted April 12, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted April 12, 2008 Correction - I meant to say Saint John Alehouse - not that it matters - they are in same building.

Acey Posted April 20, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted April 20, 2008 Ooh, thanks for posting this. We'll be docking in St. John on my birthday and looking for a nice place to eat. This gives me a good start. I ate at all of these places - so if you have questions just fire them off. A great new place just opened - "Montana's" www.montanas.ca Unfortunately, it's a bus ride or taxi ride from cruise area.

chesterdogs Posted September 4, 2010 #9 Share Posted September 4, 2010 Hi - great thread ... love to cruise but since this is my hometown I thought I would add some more suggestions ... and, nope - I have no vested interest in any of the places I suggest :) Alley Gris - great place for tapas and overlooks your cruise ship 123 Prince-William St. (short 2-3 min walk from ship) lobster dip great but quite small - scallops wrapped in smoked salmon one of our favs Across the street is Bourbon Quarter Restaurant & Bar newly opened and great French/Southern food ... grilled watermelon salad very good Boilerworks and Ale House already mentioned ... not too impressed with the Thai food at Lemongrass in the same area - if you love Thai food one of the best is a short taxi ride from the ship - across the bridge to the west side ... Suwanna Restaurant (we have always loved it - I suggest requesting light oil) Taco Pica is always a great stop for authentic Guatemalan food 96 Germain Street (walk straight up from the ship for 3 blocks and turn left ... a short walk past the Historic Trinity Church. Hope this helps!

Acey Posted September 5, 2010 Author #11 Share Posted September 5, 2010 Chesterdogs,My husband wants to try some local beer/ales at all the places we stop. Do you have any suggestions in St. John? Thanks Saint John is home of world-famous Moosehead Beer www.moosehead.ca O'Leary's pub on Princess St. 1 block from ship is a great local establishment to try it. Saint John Ale House www.saintjohnalehouse.com has the largest selection of beers in New Brunswick - including local beer on tap. Big Tide Brewing Company is located across the street from O'Leary's pub www.bigtidebrew.com - they have their own brew house.
chesterdogs Posted September 8, 2010 #12 Share Posted September 8, 2010 Hi - try O'Leary's, a great Irish pub, up one block on Princess Street ... local brew is Moosehead, in bottles and on tap! They also offer a tour though the cruise ship where the last stop is O'Leary's and the tour includes 4 samples of various local beers.
