B J Posted April 2, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2004 We are going to be in Vancouver B C before cruise and Anchorage after the cruise. Any suggestions on how to get the best price and where to stay? I have never bid on priceline, is it too early to get a good deal on a room? telesaps Posted April 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2004 I don't know when you are goind, but I booked our rooms via Priceline 1 month ago and we are going 8/15/04. I got 2 rooms at the Hyatt (4 star) for $70.00. Other people say they paid $60 - $65.00 for the same. Good luck!
dougp26364 Posted April 2, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2004 I book them as early as I can find a good deal. With Priceline, I bid as soon as I'm reasonably sure something isn't going to cause me to cancel the trip. Unless I can bid and get the room so cheap I don't care about losing the money if something happens. At present I'm seeing a good price on Hotwire for our January cruise. Since it's less than $60 I'm thinking seriously about going ahead and booking it. Our November cruise is already taken care of. We have a week long timeshare vacation the week before. superjerryw Posted April 2, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 2, 2004 It's best to book your room when you book the cruise to ensure that you have a room. If you find a better deal on Priceline or elsewhere you can then cancel your original reservation. <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004> <param name="month" value=03> <param name="day" value=19> <param name="hour" value=17> </applet> Donuts, is there anything they can't do.... B J Posted April 2, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted April 2, 2004 Thanks everyone, guess it would have helped if I had said when we are going We are cruising in September this year. Guess I had better get busy and start bidding! kc320 Posted April 2, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 2, 2004 I booked our room for San Juan in October about 1 month ago. Tried priceline for a long time & no luck so just booked Wyndham Old San Juan. It's refundable so if something better comes along we could always cancel but I think we're going to keep what we have. DH said to splurge so we booked the Conceighe level. It's our 1st trip from San Juan so we are going to live it up. Family of 14 Posted April 2, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 2, 2004 BJ - We will also be in Vancouver in September (different cruise) and I am going to try Priceline for all of our rooms in Vancouver and Hawaii. Does anyone know if the Protect Assist insurance we took out will cover our Priceline hotel cost and airline cost that we have booked ourselves? B J Posted April 3, 2004 Author #10 Share Posted April 3, 2004 I just tried Priceline and bid $60.00 for a 4 star and was told to bid again adding $17.00 more. Will it be cheaper if I wait closer to Sept.? Scout and Jeff Posted April 3, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 3, 2004 Priceline will accept lower than the $77 they asked you to bid again on. Either wait three days and try $65 or you can add a zone that does not have a 4 star or resort hotel and bid $65 today.
