rsp392 Posted April 15, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2008 Hi Everyone, How formal should I dress my 6 year old daughter on formal night? She has a flower girl dress with tule? Cute cotton dress? How dressy do kids get? Thanks, RSP
ncmomof2 Posted April 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2008 My DD always has lots of fancy dresses (roughly flower girl fancy) that she hardly ever has a chance to wear (thank you, grandma ), so she always brings them for formal nights. She loves the excuse to dress up! If your DD likes wearing a fancy dress, go with the flower girl outfit, there will be enough grown ups in tuxes/gowns and dressed up kids that she won't be out of place. On the other hand, if she doesn't like the flower girl dress, she wouldn't be out of place in a slightly more casual cotton dress either. Have fun! Warmer Climes Posted April 15, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 15, 2008 My DD goes ultra fancy on formal night, too. I buy fancy dresses on clearance at the end of the summer for her. The flower girl dress, definitely. On non-formal nights she wears cotton sundresses. Barb
crusinmama06 Posted April 15, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2008 As formal as you want to get. :) In my signature below the pic on the left is one formal night. The one on the right was a casual night. I tend to put them in black on formal night but that's just because then they'll match me. :D
Warmer Climes Posted April 16, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 16, 2008 Here is my younger DD at age 7 getting ready for formal night on the Explorer of the Seas. Note pearls and tiara. Barb
rsp392 Posted April 16, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted April 16, 2008 Great Thanks. All the girls are so cute. I discussed it with her last night and she said she wanted to wear her flower girl dress! I was planning on packing a garment bag with our formal clothes - will they allow me to carry that on the plane? They used to way back before; but I don't know anymore (we haven't really traveled anywhere on a plane since we had our daughter).

In my experience, whenever travelling in economy/coach we've had to check it like luggage - the one time I was allowed to carry it on we were in business class. You can likely check with your airline. Sue
