srt Posted April 22, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2008 Is it recommended to seek out deals on liquor at Grand Turk? If so, where might I check? Thank you!
NCTribeFan Posted April 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2008 You walk through a large duty-free shop when you enter and exit the pier. You can't miss it!
srt Posted April 22, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted April 22, 2008 How are the prices there when compared to other ports (especially those w/duty-free liquor at the pier, such as St. Thomas and San Juan)?
earlethepearl Posted April 22, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2008 I never buy liquor in ports because I have never liked having to lug all of it back after a nice relaxing trip, but I don't think the prices were any better than on the ship because the Cruise Center there at GT is run by Carnival. jpg1747 Posted April 22, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2008 If I want cheap booze, I go to my local Costco. Why lug it home from a cruise?
m steve Posted April 23, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 23, 2008 since when does Costco sell liquor in Maryland?
earlethepearl Posted April 23, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 23, 2008 Our Costco's here in the greater Memfrica (aka Memphis) area haha, all have liquor stores by the front entrance. However they are all independently owned and are not affiliated with Costco. Perhaps this is what she is referring to?
srt Posted April 23, 2008 Author #8 Share Posted April 23, 2008 Likely, though some Costcos will carry booze inside the actual warehouse (Las Vegas has several that do this). Others will have them in an affiliated store next or attached to the warehouse. Some offer none at all save a few beer cases and/or wine.
Rare nattie Posted April 23, 2008 #9 Share Posted April 23, 2008 since when does Costco sell liquor in Maryland? Jpg, which Costco do you go to? I live in MD and don't know any even as far as VA that actually sell booze (VA does sell vine and beer)
jpg1747 Posted April 23, 2008 #10 Share Posted April 23, 2008 since when does Costco sell liquor in Maryland? I'm originally from California and Costco sells it there. The particular store notwithstanding, my point is that there are enough places to buy cheap booze in the states so I just don't see the need to carry it home on a cruise. NeurosurgeryNP Posted April 24, 2008 #11 Share Posted April 24, 2008 If I want cheap booze, I go to my local Costco. Why lug it home from a cruise? Becasue it is almost half of the price as non-duty free. I bought a bottle of Patron Gold tequila for a friend who loves it and paid $45 for a bottle of it that would sell for $100 here. Also - a bottle of Crown Royale - abour $45 here - $15 in St. Maarten. Bottle of DiSaronno Amaretto - $45 here - $22 there. That is why we bought it on the ship and in port.
