kalley79 Posted April 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2008 Do kids need photo ID's to board the ship. We are leaving in 2 days and my cousin who went on a cruise last year when she turned 16 said she NEEDED hers. I thought it was only 19 and over that needed them. There will be 6 kids traveling with us and none of them have IDs. PLEASE HELP!!!! -Kellie
chuibaca Posted April 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2008 have them bring their school ID's for 18 and under. we took 10 kids under 18 a couple months ago and this is all we needed. you can also call the cruise line and ask them what they recommend..... my daughter was 16 and all we had was her school ID and her birth certificate. kalley79 Posted April 24, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted April 24, 2008 That is what I told the other parents, but their children don't have school photo IDs, and my son in only 2 so he doesn't have any ID either.
chuibaca Posted April 24, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2008 you will not need a ID for a child that is 2 years old. most elementary school kids don't have school ID's either most high school students or JR high/middle school do have them.... call the cruise line and ask them for the age requirement for id's-- the kids in our group that had school id's from their school brought them along and the ones that didn't --- didn't........ if you have teen's - i would call the cruise line ASAP!~.... i don't think you will run into any issues if the children are under 16 years old. emmysmommy Posted April 24, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 24, 2008 According to Carnival's website - under Minor Guests and Pregnancy information: In addition to the above requirements, all guests 16 years of age or older must provide an official photo ID. You can always call Carnival to obtain more information.
jamers22 Posted April 24, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 24, 2008 If they don't have photo id's from school they can use their drivers license. If they don't have a drivers license, take them to the same place you would get a drivers license and they can get a state photo id. You will need to call and find out what paperwork will be required to get this id, but the best I can remember it's a birth certificate and a few more items - no big deal. The state photo id is what my 16 year old used on our first cruise and it worked just fine.
wenocancer2 Posted April 24, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 24, 2008 If they have passports, do they need photo id's as well?
stargate fan Posted April 24, 2008 #8 Share Posted April 24, 2008 If they have passports, do they need photo id's as well? No, because passports are official documents. We only use our passports for all travel now.
Hebejeebe Posted April 24, 2008 #9 Share Posted April 24, 2008 If they have passports, do they need photo id's as well? Your passport has a photo in it. It's the best form of identification you can get.

Young people over 16 are assumed to have a driver's license , so they are assumed to have ID.
