Do try and book a weekender say 2 or 3 days before then. It will be well worth it for getting a feel for cruising. More importantly you will then become a member of the Portunus Club and get a 5% discount on your onboard spend (including tours etc) on your big cruise.

 

True you might spend £600-£800 on that short break, and only get £30 back in discounts, but it is also valuable experience.
