CRUISE REWARDS NCL leaves the others behind

Recommended Posts

As a UK passenger the last Princess credits we got were free. reduced deposits and OBC when booking, not sure if they still are since that was a while ago and the systems then could not do UK pax future credits.

One problem with NCL credits they get assigned to your home country so if you live in the UK and book through the US(to save money) the credit cannot be handled by the US call center.

and you also get a slip with BOGO at Bamboo restaurant (so that was $7.50 PP) $50 off $250 jewelry purchase at the Emerald place. and others that I do not remember. Remember that the deposit is good for Penthouse down to inside. No Owners, Courtyard or Villas.

But NCL has OBC to be used to pay for shopping on ship, not for tips or casino. So my TA gave us $150 that was to pay our tips & we were told it was not for tips. But we bought the $250 Cruise Rewards which $100 was off it & the $150 was applied to pay it off. So that came out terrific! RCCL was the same rules with their OBC.

Another item that started out bad but was made terrific was the store called Galleria. I bought a gold bracelet that is held together by 2 elastic threads & one broke at dinner. So I returned it & was told I need to buy something else for the money or I lose it. Found nothing else to do that with, so I asked C/S folks & they got the Marketing Mgr Emma who wrote me a credit for the balance when she saw what they were selling. Then at the Newark airport we see DUFRY bags in a Duty free store like what we have & learn that Galleria is that chain. Interesting.....

On the Pride of America this month they also gave you a free bottle of wine!

Ok, I'm sure many will disagree, BUT, I'm stating what I think: I was just off the Gem this Sunday and had purchased $500 in cruise rewards to be used towards my next cruise. I spoke with "Duncan", the cruise director who said this offer can be used with any agency, not just NCL and it would be combined with any specials, etc. Not the case I found out; every travel agency I have called quoted me a price, but the minute I mentioned that I had the $500 cruise rewards with NCL, they all said the quote then had to change and of course for more money. I knew there was a gimmick when I bought it, but I coulnd't quite put my finger on it, until, of course, now. Anyhow, I did book another cruise but regret buying into the cruise rewards because I would have gotten a better price without it. (yes, I'm including the $200 off that they give you when you buy them). So, buyer be aware!

You are calling the wrong TA's then!!

I use an online TA and she didnt' hesitate at all when I mentioend the Cruise rewards. She was knowledgeable with how to handle them and since it's an on line TA, there was no way she could suddenly decide to up the rate.

It CAN be combined with any special. It's like CASH.

(I'm using it along with BOA points...talk about a DEAL!!!! :D)

There is NO gimmick. You need to call other agencies. The ones you called are ripping you off...what you're going through has nothing to do with NCL.

When I purchased the "Cruise Reward" I was told that the $250.00 could be used wherever I purchased the next cruise tickets....through the net, from NCL or from a travel agent.

I hope you aren't saying that the price of a ticket goes up due to the "Reward....." If so, what have I done......

Anyway, I just got back from a cruise on the Jewel and did purchase the "Cruise Reward" and got the $100.00 credit on my final bill. That was a good thing....:p However, now I'm somewhat concerned...Well, a bit...

Don't be concerned...that is not accurate at all. IF something like that does happen to you (and it shouldn't) then do NOT book with that TA.

as she told me to book our September cruise in July after final payment is due. She will call me for the deposit number & we get a mini again if not a penthouse for the same price. She already told me as far as airfare goes, that the web site has with & without air to see what NCL is charging versus was we can get from CO. We saw 19 nt PC (Sea-Mia) on Pearl or a week on Dawn again doing Canada. I think Pearl will win for bang for the buck with air charges. 3 weeks with 1 RT flight instead of 3 different.

Gosh how I love the service we get from NCL!!!!!!

Those who are getting higher prices after mentioning the cruise reward certificate are getting shafted by the TA. It is not NCL's fault...what they tell you is the truth.

For my next cruise, I called CAS to book. I simply told her the date and ship I wanted to sail, and what cabin I wanted. She came back with a price and I said I wanted to book it. At that time, I told her about the cruise reward certificate and she simply took down the number as my deposit. No increase in fare whatsoever.

So, the problem lies with the TA's that are doing this. I'd recommend you get a new TA pronto.

It is $250 each, so you purchased 2 for 2 cruises. They cannot be used together on one cruise as it states on our form ONE PER STATEROOM.

No gimmick, it is saving us $550 on a cruise deposit which we enjoy. So we pay it with final payment, which may be the price increase folks are seeing. We plan to book now after final payment when sales are going on so we save even more with CAS dept of NCL.

If she books 2 cabins I believe she can use both of them

as we booked a cruise with them years ago & they put wrong names on our tickets for air & cruise even with Princess Platinum # as well as credit card. Then they wanted $350 PP to corect their error. I reported them to the CLIA & everything was made correct at no charge.

Hi, what is the CLIA and how do you report an agency? Thanks and sorry for the ignorance here.
