Hi, we have friends who want to book this cruise with us but they are smokers and want to know where they can smoke on this ship. Can anyone help me out with the info they need. Thanks very much.:)

The above is absolutely correct. As a smoker though, I limit my smoking to my balcony, the casino, and the starboard side of open decks. On the open decks, if I see other non smokers or a child, I move to another area. To me it's just being considerate of others and their children.

I think you ROCK!!!! I'm a non-smoker and asthmatic, and if I have even the slightest cold, it can start a coughing/wheezing fit even though I'm loaded up with 6 different meds a day and get shots. So I really do appreciate your kindness.

That information is somewhat incorrect.

"Carnival Valor Public Areas are Non-smoking except for Casino, Casino Bar, Paris Hot, Lindy Hop, One Small Step Dance Club, Sports Bar, Winston’s Cigar Bar and open deck on the starboard side."

That leaves at least the Heroes Club, Eagles Lounge, Jeanne’s Wine Bar and the lobby as non-smoking. Smoking is also prohibited in other public areas such as shops, elevators, stairways and hallways.

In general, on Carnival Ships there will be a a few bars that prohibit smoking, often including the lobby or atrium bar and, often a wine bar if it's more or less open and not closed off from the hallway. It is also common for parts of some bars to be designated non-smoking. For instance, if the piano player doesn't smoke, the area right around the piano may be a non-smoking area, with smoking allowed in the rest of the piano bar.

On Carnival ships, unlike some other lines, smoking is permitted in cabins and on private balconies.

I don't smoke now, :) but I did on my last cruise which was the Valor. Everything that I have read so far is right on except for the non-smoking in the lobby bar and the wine bar. I know that Carnival Capers do not include the lobby bar or the wine bar as smoking areas but unless things have changed, when I was on the ship they allowed smoking in both those areas. They had ashtrays ready and waitng on the bar, I had a drink and a smoke every night before dinner in the lobby bar (along with other people) and at the wine bar. Not sure why, that's just the way it was.

You're my favorite smoker in the whole wide world! ;) Your actions are more than I'd expect or ask of a smoker, but I'm sure the consideration is much appreciated.

I completely agree, with your actions as a smoker. The DW and I are both smokers and would go out of our way to try to be downwind of non smokers. espicially children just because i want to suck that nasty crap into mu lunchs doesn't mean everyone else does. I often find myself walking away from a group of people just to make sure my smoke doesn't offend. we also typicially went to our room man i love that balcony when we wanted a smoke, and plan on doing the same on miracle this year.

The designated smoking areas will be posted in the Capers every day.

They do not change, but are posted every day simply as a reminder.

The biggest change that Carnival made when they went with designated smoking areas was to stop folks from walking from venue to venue (where children may be present) with a lit cigarette.

As long as your friends are in one of these areas, they will have no problems.

Casino, Piano Bar, Cigar Bar, Sports Bar, Disco are all interior places they can smoke.

One side of the pool area will be designated as a smoking area outside.

Have a great cruise!

I agree. I also make it a point when I'm smoking in the casino at a blackjack table to stand up, hold the cigarette up and away from the table, and exhale towards the ceiling. That way, all the smoke isn't going into everybody's faces (particularly the dealer's)...

I am the same way - I won't smoke in a crowd or in any area where it is not allowed and try to be very conscious of those around me. It's a nasty habit - I've quit and fallen off the wagon more times than I can count - but just because I'm addicted does not mean I need to inflict my smoke on those who don't want to be around it. Hubby and I have both commented on our cruises that we think Carnival does a really good job of having clearly marked areas for both smokers and nonsmokers. The only spot I ever really had a problem was the casino on the Liberty - it was so smoky I couldn't stand more than 20 or 30 minutes in there and would have to go shower to get the smell off of me. I know it had to be really bad for the nonsmokers.
