New York Hotel near the Port of Manhatten

We are staying at The Belvedere in the theater district but a short walk to Times Square. We booked back in January and I have watched the price steadily go up....We have also stayed at The Marriott Marquis and at the W Times Square but this year the price had literally doubled at the W...I have read good reviews on The Belvedere.....so..we can only hope!

 

I am amazed at how the price increases at the hotels as the summer comes to an end....I see the rates in the high $180's now but jump up to well over $300.00 for the same hotel once it gets into September....

Could anyone recommend a reasonably priced, clean hotel near the JFK airport? I am travelling solo, so I want to be sure that it is a safe hotel as well. Any experience with the Best Western?
