buddyjo143 Posted April 30, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2008 DH and I spent the weekend in Mystic, Connecticut. After we checked into the hotel we started noticing the ways that our land vacation was different from a Carnival Cruise. Whether the ways were better or worse is purely subjective but there were definite differences. Without further ado, the top 10 ways our land vacation was different from our cruise vacation: 10. The room steward did not come to introduce him/herself. 9. No muster drill. 8. Had to drive ourselves to our "shore" excursions. 7. Gym looked out over a parking lot (not the ocean :(). 6. No free soft-serve ice cream. 5. No singing and/or dancing waiters in the dining rooms. 4. Pine trees ~ not palm trees. 3. These casinos had FREE drinks (Foxwood and Mohegan Sun). 2. Local channels available on the television (not Denver ;)). AND THE #1 WAY OUR LAND VACATION WAS DIFFERENT FROM OUR CRUISE No bedtime turn down service, chocolates on the pillow or towel animals. jayesouthworth Posted April 30, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 30, 2008 We went to Las Vegas for 4 days and 3 nights and stayed at the Bellagio. Here's how it was different and similar 1. Beautiful gardens in the hotel. 2. Huge bathroom with sit down shower and separate bath tub 3. View of water fountain and show 4. Gambling 24 hours a day non stop 5. 1st Class Circus de Soleil show - not free ($300.00) 6. Chocolate and turn down every night. 7. Several restaurants and wonderful buffet. 8. Friendly staff 9. Free drinks when gambling 10. Full massage and spa Big difference we paid $2,000 total for hotel, air, food, entertainment for only 4 days and 3 nights. We're paying $1,600 for 8 days and we figure an additional $250.00 for flight. The cruise is a better deal, but we had a blast in Vegas too.
