What to do in Lesbos?

Hello, we were on Insignia last November and stopped in Lesbos (Mitilini). We spent a couple hours wandering around the old fortress. You will see it as you come into port. We decided to walk, about 15-20 minutes and lucked out in finding the entrance, which is on the back side of the fortress up this gravel road. No parking lot or anything to suggest that it was the entrance, we just kept walking uphill. Once inside (it's free on Sundays) it was great just wandering around. We were the only people there and there were some great views of the ship. We were only in port from 12 - 6 and everything closed in the afternoon, so if you want to wander around the town, which is quite nice, do that first, find a nice place for lunch, then head up to the fortress. There are lost of cafes around the harbour. I believe all the shops close everyday from 1:00 - 5:00, siesta time! However, there was a wine and liquor store on the waterfront that was open. It was packed with people from the ship.
