Underwater snorkel trail at Trunk Bay

We took the Red Hook ferry over (on our own) got a taxi to Trunk Bay.. I forget how much.. They will come back to pick you up-- there are always Taxis at Trunk Bay. There is a fee.. It is a national park.. There are showers, restrooms, small place for a bite to eat and souveniers. We brought our own snorkel gear so there was no fee for that.. If you search under "St. Johns National Park or Trunk Bay, USVI some info will come up. It was beautiful! Taxis will stop if you want to take pictures from up above Trunk Bay. They always come out great.

The underwater snorkel trail at Trunk Bay is pretty awesome! It's a bit of a swim to get out there and there isn't any place to really rest. The trail circles a little island but the lifeguards will yell at you to not stand on the rocks/coral surrounding tha island.

As you're facing the island, the biggest crowd will be to its left. If there are a lot of ships in town the day you're there, it can be downright obnoxious with all the folks floundering about. If you can get past them, you'll be fine.

Yes, there is plenty to see underwater there!!! :D

richtersl,

There will be a total of 9 ships in port that day between St. Thomas and St. John. Given that Trunk Bay is one of the most popular beaches and we've already been to Magens Bay, do you have any other good beach suggestions that will have accommodations but that may be less crowded?

Crockett,

Good to hear from you. Thanks for the feedback. I've always wondered who had that user name and if it was still being used.

Hello,

You could try Cinnamon Bay. If not having amenities doesn't bother you and you are willing to bring your own drink/snacks you could head to Maho Bay or Hawksnest. You could also hike to some more secluded beaches like Honeymoon or Salomon Bay. These are all on St. John.

On St. Thomas you could head to maybe Secret Harbor.
