Freestyle dining for groups

Is it really hard to get tables for groups with the freestyle dining.

Were looking at about 12 people in our group

Will there always be a long wait?

If there are 12 in your group - and you plan on eating all meals together every day of your cruise - it could prove problematic - however, it is possible - easier if one of your group has "sweet suite" concierge service - and makes the reservations first day. If there are no suite passengers then someone will have to be up early morning to do the reservations - depending on where you want to eat. I shudder to think of the logistics in getting 12 people to agree to eat at the same place everyone else wants to. The main dining rooms will take reservations for 8 and over so shouldn't be a huge problem. IMO Do remember that if you make reservations in the "pay restaurants" you have to cancel if someone isn't going to be there - otherwise you are charged for that missing person - can't remember what the charge is - half price I think.

for groups of 8 or more...you are allowed to make reservations for the main dining rooms, if you want. they may put you at 2 tables, but (if you wish) you can have a set time/table for either early or late dining.

you can talk to the matre'd when you get on the ship.

is you group going to eat together EVERY night? if not, you can make a couple of reservations (for main dining rooms) for a couple of nights, then

"play it by ear" for the rest.

Ive read a few post about some of the restaurants charge a fee?

What kind of fee?

Is it a flat fee or are you actually paying the cost of your meal?

Anyone have an example of cost?

Anyone in a balcony or better has a telephone reservationist to make restaurant reservations 48 hours in advance. No need to visit the atrium desk which is for oceanview & inside.

We got reservations for our party of 2 that evening at 5:30PM. Since they have tables of 6. They just push 2 together & there is your table. Is this once a week or every day? The dining room needs no reservations if you eat between 5:30-7PM. Late dining will need a reservation. If it is a daily affair then specify a time to be there daily.

just to clear it up...for the specialities:

anyone can use the reservation's desk..

anyone can call to make reservations, some cabins will have a special number...

balcony and mini-suites can make reservations for 48 hrs ahead,

oceanviews and insides cabins can make reservations for 24 hrs ahead.

for large groups, the tables (usually) only seat 10...even in the specialities, they will move tables or arrange for tables close to each other. just talk to them while making the reservations.

main dining room reservations, go talk to the hostess or matre'd...they are good with working with groups.
