Casino open during Alaska cruise?

We are going on the NCL Star at the end of this month to Alaska. We were on the Star last November and we met with the Casino manager and he told us it depends on where your ship sails from as to the casino being open. For instance... Ours will be leaving from Seattle so the casino will not open for five hours after we sail. Out of Canada it will open an hour after sailing.

It is open during the cruise, however I'm sorry I don't know the exact hours.

The ship must get into International seas before opening the casino. Many nations claim Territorial seas 4 miles from land, many nations 12 miles from land.

As the original responder wrote, it varies.

The reason the ship must get into International seas is to avoid having to comply with 100s of nation's gambling laws and taxes. Each nation has their own. In International seas, there are no gambling laws.
