big aft Posted May 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2008 Trying HAL (Eurodam) for the first time after 9 Princess cruises...very excited and looking forward to the experience! We have booked a VA on the Eurodam and wonder how it compares to Princess's Mini-Suites. I understand the Eurodam is new, but did we book the right cabin classification? It looks similar...we do like the Mini's on Princess and hoping for the same on HAL. Any thoughts? Thanks, Larry
grannynurse Posted May 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2008 Welcome to the HAL board. A VA cabin on Eurodam (Signature class) and the Vista ships is a standard balcony cabin approx. 250 sq ft. A mini suite on these ships is a superior veranda cabin approx 389 sq ft. The mini suite perqs are personalized stationary, whirlpool tub, extra shower stall, double sink vanity with 2 medicine cabinets, free DVDs from DVD library and telephone concierge. The VA cabins do have a tub and a shower, and sitting area but they are rectabgular in shape as opposed the the SS, SY, and SZ cabins which are square. The VAs on the stern have the large deep balconies, the port and starboard VAs are regular sized balconies. Hope this helps, and BTW VAs are mini suites on HAL's S and R class ships. big aft Posted May 14, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted May 14, 2008 Thanks! In other words, if we want a stateroom which is the same as a Mini-Suite on Priness, we should book an S Suite? Thanks
grannynurse Posted May 14, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2008 Hi, If you want a mini-suite on Eurodam, book an SS, SY, or SZ not an SA, SB, or SC. An S suite is a Deluxe veranda suite; S includes categories SA, SB and SC only. There is also a Penthouse category. The Superior veranda suites are mini-suites on Eurodam; these are categories SS, SY, and SZ. There is a big price and ammenity difference between Deluxe and superior suites. The deluxe are "true suites" with concierge, laundry, parties etc. The Superior suites, really shouldn't be classified as suites as they are halfway between standard cabins and true suites, i.e. mini-suites. They have almost the same configuration as a real suite, without the separate dressing room, bar area, bigger veranda, and double sleeper sofa. This Superior category was added to the Prinsendam, Vistas (Noordam, Oosterdam, Westerdam, and Zuiderdam), and the new Signature class, Eurodam. The S and R class HAL ships do not have this category of cabin selections. Superior verandas are really a great deal, they are lovely large cabins in nice locations. Thereis nothing wrong with the V cabins, they're just smaller and have fewer amenities. You can't go wrong with either choice, GN
