katolb90 Posted May 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2008 Hi all. I have some extra time to spend in Anchorage at the end of the land portion of my trip in mid-June (already been to kenai/seward/girdwood). I was thinking about biking either the Tony Knowles Coastal trail or Eklutna lake trail. Anyone done these and can compare scenery or overall experience? Are both pretty well traveled? I do not want to be in an isolated situation.
mytime53 Posted May 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2008 Well, there have been other people at Eklutna Lake whenever I've been there. But it isn't near a town, so it's very possible to get there and not have anyone else there. Are you by yourself? If so, and you want to make sure you're not the only one out there, then you should stick to the Coastal Trail. The coastal trail is quite scenic...it goes along the inlet and most of the way you have views across the inlet. I'm sure the Eklutna trail is scenic, but I haven't biked it...I've climbed the mountain when there.
katolb90 Posted May 15, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted May 15, 2008 Yes, I will be by myself. Thanks for the advice. There was a group bike tour to Eklutna, but it was rather expensive. Perhaps I'll just do the Coastal trail.
