Air Canada and now WestJet fuel surcharge

Just heard on the news and from my TA that Air Canada and now WestJet have started charging a fuel surcharge for all new flights. Luckily we have ours booked and paid last week for Vancouver from Toronto return for September on Veendam Alaska. Sorry to break the news. Colakid

I remember hearing about Air Canada adding the fuel surcharge last week, with rumblings that Westjet wouldn't be far behind. With the price of jet fuel almost doubling in the past year, it's not a surprise that both have implemented these fees. I too am happy that my two AC flights for upcoming cruises were bought and paid for months ago....I escaped the extra charge for a 2nd bag too. :)
