Victory/Short Review

PS: oh ok, one more "burning issue." Is the area around the siren's pool and pizza grill open-air for seating? Does it stay crowded? It seems this ship has few nooks and crannies to watch the sea, unless you pay for a balcony cabin.

The Pool is open air until about 6 pm, then they have a retractable roof that comes out and covers it. Just above on the Panorama Deck is always open. During most of the day, the pool was, wouldn't call it really crowded like the main pool on the Lido deck, but it wasn't empty either. It was much quieter than the forward pool.

I was on this cruise too..and I had a great time.

Carnival Game..it was nice meeting you and your son (this is Chris from the Jolly Mon sailing). Hope you had a great rest of your trip! I didnt see you after that as I got some kind of flu and was stuck in the cabin all day friday and saturday :-(

Anyway, I'll agree that the CD Malcom was hysterical. Definaly more involved and fun than the last CD that I experienced on the Triumph last year.

Food...dining room was anywhere from avg to absolutely fantastic. We all agreed that the "half-spring chicken" was the best chicken any of us had ever had. ON the negative, my friend ordered Veal Parm and the sides were sweet potatoes and roasted potatoes. Hmmm...lol. But it was good, and the service was top notch. Lido food, anywhere from not-very good to decent. For me, I'd rather enjoy the burgers, dogs, deli.

Other than me getting sick and missing out on the last 2 days, I had a great time, and wouldn't hesitate to book this ship/Carnival again. That being said, I would be open to experiencing other lines as well.

As a side incident...we found a cockroach in our room. I'm serious. We captured it and brought it to the pursers desk. They wanted to see it, disposed of it, and we had to evacuate our room for an hour while they fumigated. There were no more sightings after that. I will say that that whatever they sprayed had a distinctive minty smell, and we smelled it a few other times in other parts of the boat. The ship was CLEAN, so I am guessing that the roach came in thru the open balcony while in PR (as thats when we noticed it, that night. They handled the issue satisfactorily. MY friend freaked out though...lol.

Any other questions I will be happy to answer!

Question about Siren's pool - I assume that is the aft pool. We went to the forward pool only once for a short time, music was louder and more smoking at forward pool, we wanted to read so we found the aft pool quieter. We always found a table and chairs in the shade. Although side area was a little stuffy, but the back area had a very nice breeze, just depends what you want!

The bar at the Siren's pool made the strongest drinks!! Of course that's not why we hung out there!

Javier Javier, where are you?? (my room steward-no one is cleaning up after me here at home...............)

Thanks for all of this information about the Victory. We're considering one of the Canada cruises out of NY this summer...it will be my husband's first cruise, and an anniversary present for ourselves. I'm wondering if there are any hot tubs in the pool area for public use, or are they only found in the gym area, which I'm assuming costs to access. Also, how late in the evening are the pools opened? Thanks for any info!:)

I just asked my son because he spent more time by the pool than I did.

He doesn't think the slide was open on embarkation day. I know the pool wasn't open before muster so there's no reason to have a swimsuit in your carry on. Sorry we don't have an exact time on pool closing, but it wasn't late. He thinks between 6:00-8:00.

Yes, there is a hot tub, possibly two, in the main pool area.

There are 2 hot tubs by every pool. Rear pool was open until like midnight, but the roof was closed after like 6 (well, not sure exact time, I had dinner at 6, and when we finished the roof was closed). The other pools I believe closed at 8 or 9.

CG,

Yeah its funny how some people you see over and over on the boat, and others you never see! lol. Before Wednesday, we spent most of our time around the aft pool, casino, and had late dinner every night. I know you mentioned that you had early! Thursday was St.Maarten and we were on the island all day, and I was in bed from Friday on..yuck! Just came back from the doctor who told me I have bronchitus. I asked him if he thought he could trace back what day I got it and he couldn't even guess (or wouldn't). So I don't know if it came from the boat, island, airplane, etc.

Glad you enjoyed your trip, you and your son were very nice. I had a GREAT 5 day cruise. lol
