LoveCruising2008 Posted May 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2008 We are going on an 8 night Independence of The Seas cruise in Nov. ... It has 3 days of cruising; any chance they will add a Port? I was wondering if it is cheaper for RCL to add a port to the itinerary rather then spending a full day cruising the open waters with the way gas prices are. Any thoughts... has this ever been done before???
Gonzo70 Posted May 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2008 I don't think adding a port would save them gas money. They would have at least the same total number of miles to travel (probably a little more to get to the extra port) and would have to travel at a faster speed to make it to the other ports on time if they added an additional stop. When the ship travels full speed it gets less miles per gallon then when it can trek along more slowly.
LoveCruising2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted May 19, 2008 Oh, thanks... I wasn't sure if it would be cheaper for them and I would be making out on another beach day:)
