Car rental in Montevideo

We are thinking of renting a car in Montevideo to drive to an Estancia. Has anyone rented a car here before? Are there any cars to rent close to the port?

We are with NCL and just booked the excursion to the estancia in Montevideo and it was 185.00 pp :eek: I am also wondering if there is a cheaper way to do this excursion.

I have found the Don Joaquin Estancia where the cost is $50 per person which includes breakfast and lunch as well as all the activities at the estancia. The car rental is about $50 and I am told that it is very easy driving. This sure beats the ship excursion cost! When are you going on your cruise? We are on the Sun on December 7, 2008.
