We only needed 5 cabins.

If you book 8 cabins (double occ.), you get one free "berth". If you book 16 cabins, you get two free berths and so on. One berth is fare for ONE person in a double occupancy cabin. It would not include port charges or taxes. Usually you would get the refund after sailing and let the group leader keep it, or split it between the members of the group.

To Samben, during normally low cruiseing seasons, cruiselines may offer a 1 for 5 ratio for the free berth, as opposed to the normal 1 for 8. You can find this out by checking with the group booking department of your choosen cruiseline.
