Hidden Price Drop for Fall - New Booking only

If you go to the celebrity web site and look under Celebrity Exceptional Offers (Home page right side just under ship) for FALL Mediterranean you will see that Celebrity is offering a $300 Per person discount for all NEW bookings between May 19 and June 1st for select sailings that can be applied to air or cruise only. However when you go to the booking page it does not reflect this discount for in fine print it states the discount will be applied prior to sailing. The current web pricing does not reflect this discount, therefore we cannot go to our agents to get any price guarantee price reduction. IS this right???

 

WE are scheduled for a 14 days cruise on the Summitt Nov 1st. Granted Celebrity increased the fuel surcharge on May 15th but that amounts to only $42 increase per person.....this hidden discount (which started May 19th) is still worth $252 per person or over $500 per cabin. By offering the discount in this manner..ie new bookings only and not reflecting it in their current web pricing, Celebrity is outright PUNISHING it customers who have booked in advance and penalizing us.

 

HOw can we get around this "new booking only" and the fact that the real new price is not relected in Celebritys web price???

Unfortuantely that wonderful clause of "For New Bookings Only" is not new to the cruise industry and quite often ruffles the feathers of those who booked in advance......Have your TA call Celebrity and see if they can do anything to either cancel and rebook or get your fare adjusted is really the best advice I can suggest.

Just heard back form my TA and we will get the price reduction but we will have to pay the increased fuel charges, Still come out ahead. They actually had to cancel the original booking, redo the credit card deposit, get a New booking number, kept the same cabins, etc. And who said the Government was bureaucratic!!!

 

The New Bookling Only clause was put there to discourage already booked clients from calling in. When my agent told me new bookings only I told him to cancel the 4 cabins we had reserved...he called celebrity! I predict there will be more price discounts for X is obviously having a difficult time flling up the Fall MED cruises!! These discounts may be hidden (like this one) or be offered in September after the penalty period for rebooking kicks in.

I'm not sure what you mean by "hidden." I received an e-mail from Celebrity announcing this offer.

Glad you got the reduced fare and isn't it nice to have a TA at your side to go to battle for you when needed ??? Not to say you couldnt have done it on your own if booking direct with the cruisline, but many times the strength of a TA and their status with cruiselines is more valuable than booking on your own and may make a difference in the outcome of a situation like this !

By "hidden" I mean you cannot find the reduced fare by simply going to Celebrity's web page and price out these particular cruises. Plus the promotion fare will not be reflected on your invoice until Final payment due date. Not everyone receives e-mail updates and even if you did for this promotion, it probably stated NEW BOOKINGS ONLY which is not the case.

 

Again if you are Booked on a Celebrity Fall European Cruise between October 3rd and November 24, 2008, call your TA and ask to be rebooked using OFFER: $300 MYG9 You can save up to $300 per person for either Cruise or Air. This offer is valid until June 1, 2008.
