What to do in Puerto Rico?

We would like to snorkle in Puerto Rico but don't know where to go. Can anyone suggest a beach close to the port? We'll only be there from 2- midnight. Or are there any nice resorts that you can pay to use for the day?

Hello littlechris, one of the beaches closest to the port area is the one at the Caribe Hilton Hotel. They offer snorkeling there but you would have to call them to see if you can pay for use for one day. Their website is www.hiltoncaribbean.com/sanjuan. I have been to their hotel but never done snorkeling there. Another resort that I can recommend because I did snorkleling there was El Conquistador, but this is further away, I would say about 30-45 minutes away from the airport depending on traffic. Their beach is on a private island that you take a ferry to, and it is really nice and beautiful there. Again don't know if you could go for the day, but their website is www.elconresort.com. I hope this helps some.

Snorkeling near SJ is not good. There is a little snorkeling at Balneario Escambron in OSJ (probably about a $10 cab ride each way). But I would skip it as you will probably find better snorkeling at other ports and you don't have many daylight hours in port.http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/2007/04/08/escambron-beach-catch-some-sun-in-san-juan/

I have never done it but I hear you can get a day pass for the Marriot hotel.

Forget El Con, too far away and no day passes.

I would recommend maybe doing the BioBay A great experience and you don't often get to a location that has them. You have time to do either of the 2 on the NE of PR- the one in Fajardo or the one in Vieques.
