Does anyone know about Tips on Atlantica?

I was on the Victoria in March of 2003. Then we paid our tips directly to the cabin attendant, servers and etc. We sailed in the Caribbean then and will sail in the Caribbean again this time. I just looked at the website under FAQ it says they charge your onboard account is this correct. I am asking because Costa's website isn't always correct. I really don't care but I need to know so I can determine how much cash to take. Question is bigger credit card or extra cash? Yes I have a small limit credit card I use on cruiseships. It is my way of not over spending.

We sailed on the Costa Fortuna in the Med in March 2004 and the tips were charged to our board account. On a previous cruise with Costa in August 2003 this option was not available.
