shipboard credits

Laurie's right... anything you'd want to spend on while on the ship (drinks, shop purchases, tips, excursions, spa services).

I think the only thing you can't put on your shipboard account is gambling expenses.

We always hope to get the shipboard credit so that we don't have to worry about the tips, helps keep the final balance way down.

You can get cash from your shipboard account in the casino for gambling or anything else you might want to do with the money. I have never been charged a fee for doing that.

I think they only charge you a fee for getting cash from the casino cage if you use a credit card.

On our last cruise the ATM machine was down the whole cruise. When I went to casino cage to get cash from my credit card they told me that there would be a fee and I should use my onboard account. I wanted to take money out of a different card than the one I had my account on, so she told me to go to the pursers desk, add the new card with whatever amount I wanted taken off of it put on my account and then come back to casino cage and get the money. Worked like a charm....and no fees from ship OR my credit card, since it doesn't go on the card as a cash withdrawal.

In July - on the Pacific Princess -I had an excess of SBC on my Account - I was charged 3% for taking it out in CASH...it was the only way I could get it without spending it on something I didn't want! I was told you will always get charged the 3% at the Casino UNLESS you "BUY" casino credits before you cruise - you can do this if you specifically charge Casino Credits to your shipboard account on a credit card BEFORE you cruise! ---and then you could get CASH without the 3% charge only to the amount of Casino credits you previously charged!!!

Maybe it depends on what KIND of SBC you have on your account! -

All my July SBC was put on my Shipboard account from my TA and Princess and FCC booking...- we had no balance at the end of the cruise. If I did not take out the sum in CASH at the Casino - I would have "lost it" -- it could not be "rolled over" to another cruise and if I did not charge something to my shipboard account that would have used it up it would have been "wasted"!

(worth the 3% to get the cash - I think!)
