koalagurl Posted June 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2008 I realize only one cruise has completed out of the LA - San Pedro port, but I was hoping over the next few weeks to see how the check in is/was for the cruise. We have 4 small (4 and under) kids in our group, and we are trying to best accommodate them during the wait time (i.e. do we check in early and wait or try to go in a bit later?) Any tips would be greatly appreciated! TIA!!
toxiktoast Posted July 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2008 This was probably the longest embarkation in all my cruises. We arrived to the port not too long after they started boarding, probably about a half hour after they started boarding. When you arrive they give you a group number and then when they call your number you can go on the line to screen your bags, check-in, take pictures and board. I remember the next number they called after we got to the port was 6. Apparently MANY people got to the port early because I believe we had number 23 or so. I think it took about an hour and a half before our group was called and about another 45 minutes to board, maybe longer. It seems everyone wants to get on as early as possible. If you arrive towards the later end of the boarding time you will probably have a much shorter wait. We usually try to arrive much later to avoid a long line to check in and we've never had such a problem. That time our flights were booked through the cruiseline and were earlier than we normally would've booked, but we had no choice.
koalagurl Posted July 29, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted July 29, 2008 We got there around 10:30am, checked in, didn't get our boarding number right away, but still got group 6 and were on the ship by 11:55. :D
