So I guess you are calling me a liar then? Here is the email they sent me.

Hi Phillip,

Thanks for contacting the Ocean Players Club!

We're glad to hear your sailing again! After reviewing our records we would like to offer you $200.00 in either chips or tokens. Please present a photo I.D. to the Cashier's Cage onboard and they will grant you this amount. Also, we have placed you onto our OPC guest list. Hope you have a great cruise and the best of luck while spending time in the casino!

Best Regards,

Ocean Players Club

I presented this email and 2 days later they gave me 200 in cash at the casino cage with no requirements to play or anything. Others on this site have reported similar. However the point of this post was to report that the $100 coupon's did not work.

Philip

Philip, I'm sorry, absolutely no, I wasn't calling you a liar.......This is a perk that I had never even read about and I didn't completely read and comprehend your last sentence before sending my response.........I hope I haven't thrown one of these coupons away......I tend to do so with anything that doesn't look like a bill at my house..........I will email OPC tonight re: my upcoming B2B on the Glory and hope for the best.........Thanks for the info..........

Did you have to complete an IRS W2G for those winnings?

Yes, and I felt like I was being robbed.....I was told by the Casino Host that they have to make you fill one out for all single roll/jackpot/hand winnings in excess of $1999, though I saw another post that said they had to do it at 1700.

When I hit the 2000 was on a combination on the big WOF machine by the Casino bar and they had to come reset the machine and I had to present picture id and all that and fill out the W2G to get my cash. The 1000 was won on another one of the big WOF machines by the Casino bar, but it was just the top prize on the big wheel when I spun and that's where it landed. A Casino host came by but said that I could just upload the winnings to my players bank.

I won $5000 while playing a slot machine on Princess several years ago. They didn't take out any taxes nor did I receive a tax form. They did ask to see my cruise card and I had to sign a piece of paper showing they paid me....in hundred dollar bills! :) Last year I won $5000 on RCCL after hitting a royal flush while playing Video Poker. Again, no taxes taken out and no W2 in the mail. I just assumed that was the procedure for cruise ships. Well, this past March, I won $2000 (Princess) while playing video poker and they deducted taxes on the ship and I also received a tax form to be filed next year. I really don't understand and don't know the rules. Although the forms show I won $2000, I actually lost some of it and LOTS of my money. Since you don't insert a players card on ships (at least not the ships I was on) like you do in a Vegas, I don't know how I can prove my losses to the tax people. Hopfully I can luck out again on my next 2 cruises this year and win. I don't mind paying taxes if I'm suppose to, if I really win, but I don't like to pay when it just looks like I won. Does anyone know the rules?

You can offset your gambling winnings with your losses for federal taxes (cancelled check you wrote for funds at the casino, ATM receipts for withdrawls at the casino, losing lottery tickets or scratch off tickets).

I won about $1,275 on the Pride a couple years ago and was the lucky recipient of a tax form. I had kept my ATM receipts from the ship and the casinos here at home (luckily we have them here in this case). I had lost WELL over that amount YTD, so I had enough losses to claim on my Federal return.

Even if you win $10,000 (and get a tax form) but lost $11,000, in the eyes of the feds, you've still won, so you have to claim that on your taxes.

I cruised CCL back in 2004 and will be on the Glory 8/2/09 - went to the website and noticed I needed by players #. Where can I get this?

The players number is not required. Just fill in the rest of the blanks and submit.

I received an email back after I submitted my "cruising again" info with the OPC website. The email said they "have placed my name on the OPC guest list for my upcoming sailing". I guess maybe I haven't gambled enough to warrant any casino credit but does anyone know what it means to have your name placed on the list?

All it usually means now is that you'll have a letter in your cabin informing you that you'll have 500 points applied to your card (puts you at halfway to getting the $10) and a drink from the casino host. In the "good ol' days" it meant you'd receive photo coupons, chocolate covered strawberries, fruit baskets, champagne, wine, etc....they've done away with those gifts.

So, what I hear you guys saying is even if I have the coupon for $100 OBC (Casino) credit containing my name and membership number, I will not receive it at the casino?

The coupon clearly states

"In your next cruise, please present this coupon to the casino cashier to receive your credit."

Someone please clarify!

You will still get your $100 from the casino.

When the postcard went out, some came and shared the link on CC. I guess Carnival got wind of this and now they have the ones that legitimately got the postcard on a list.

I was just on the Parasdise and used my $50 credit. No problems, just presented my coupon and they made a phone call and handed me $50 cash! I lost way more than that in the casino but at least the first $50 was free!:D

How long does it take to hear back from the OPC? Last Friday I went to the website and filled out the forms stating that my husband and I are returning, but I still (5 days later) haven't heard anything back yet. Should I fill them out again, contact them somehow or just be more patient? Thanks for your help.

I am sailing the Legend in September of this year. Over the course of the last 2 years, my upcoming Legend trip will be my 5th cruise. After reading a similar thread to this one before boarding the Destiny in March 2008, I went to the OPC website, submitted the information, and received an email thanking me for the email, but no offer of anything. I have never given the dealer at the black jack tables my S&S card to be rated. Is this where I'm going wrong? I spend a lot of time (consequently sometimes a lot of money) in the casino on the ships, and just can't seem to figure this one perk out.

Thanks for your help, thoughts, advice,

Silc

If you received a postcard, went to the link and printed out the coupon, then YES, you will get the $100... If you went to the link, print out the coupon, no postcard, then NO, you will not get the $100...

In other words... POSTCARD.... YES

NO POSTCARD......NO

We are booked for our 10th (Platinum, yes) in Oct. We have received cash credits in the casino on our last 5 cruises. They varied from $160 to $220 each time. Got free drinks the entire time we were in the casino, usually at least twice a day. Just received a letter yesterday from Ocean Players Club for $200 credit on our next cruise. We have received Chocolate covered strawberries, Petit fours, room decorations and photo credit which stated from OPC casino host. I only play the slots and usually rack up 8,000 to 12,000 credits. On several cruises my wife was gived a canvas tote bag full of goodies (hat, cards, key chains,t-shirts,etc.) Several times I have won enough to pay for our cruise, not jackpot but several good wins. Have had some loosings too, but luckily well ahead.

I also tried using the $100 credit coupon on the Inspiration on 5/29/08. My name was not on the list so I didn't get it. I did receive a letter in my cabin awarding 500 points and a free drink (as a result of completing info on OPC site about coming back onboard I guess) After all I lost on this cruise maybe I will get something for my November Legend cruise. Still had a wonderful time.

This is all I got also on my 5/31 Ecstasy cruise. Only the letter for 500 points (you need 1000 for a $10 reward) and an offer for a free drink. On our 12/07 Elation cruise all we got was the voucher for $15 photo discount. Each time I contacted the OPC at least a month prior. I do not play slots so that may make a difference.

I signed up on the Victory in 2007.. When I emailed them they told me they had no record of it and to re-join on my last cruise.

I did.. never received any member number or any mail from them:(
