Tampa Hotels

I've read through most of the threads discussing hotels in Tampa and I have booked a 2 room suite at Chase Suites. Originally we were interested in leaving our car at the hotel while we were on the cruise so we booked with Chase Suites. We've now decided to park at the port so that we could leave straight from the port to drive back to Md.

My question is that our originally booking at Chase was around $150 for the first night and $160 for the second night (approximately). Now that we are not tied to a hotel that will allow us to leave our vehicle I'm wondering if there is a better choice for us. There are 4 of us, myself, my husband, 17 year old and 7 year old. Pull out sofa is a necessity.

The closer we are to everything (shopping, eating) the better and we'd like a nice hotel. I've been reading posts regarding the Intercontinental and the Mariott Waterside and now I'm totally confused. What hotel would you recommend if you were spending 2 days in Tampa pre-cruise and wanted to be close to shopping, eating and things to do with the kids.

Thanks for any info.
