My family & I are going on the Carnival Valor March 09. Stopping in St Thomas. Heard Saphire Beach or Megans Bay are nice. Are cabs easy to catch to & from the port? Are there resteraunts & bars along the beach? Also want to shop. Are there shops along the beaches? Any suggestions would be helpful. Interested in a nice beach & shopping.

Taxis are available at the cruise ship docks, downtown and at popular beaches like Magens and Sapphire. At Sapphire if there aren't any taxis at the taxi stand outside of the hotel lobby you can ask someone at the front desk to call one for you. There is a snack restuarant at Magens and a bar; serves pizza, salads, fries... At Sapphire there is a restaurant about 10 minutes walk from the beach at the condos. There is a small swimwear and souvenir store at Magens and that's it. There was a similar shop at Sapphire but pretty sure they closed. There are lots of shops downtown (Charlotte Amalie) and also at Havensight (where ships dock) and some shopping at Crown Bay (also where ships dock). So plan for some beach time and then head to a shopping area for shopping.
