Sunset Beach Hotel?

Hi- Has anyone been to the Sunset Beach Hotel?

 

Is this the hotel which has been in service for many years (previously Bonaire Beach Hotel?) and has a very good and large swimming beach?

Actually the Sunset beach hotel has been closed for about 10 years when they went bellyup. Divi is starting to build a new time share there on that property. The Plaza has about the biggest beach as hotels go.

can you do a day pass? I looked at Divi's website ad was trying to find something where we could use their facilities?!

There is no day pass. You can go thru the lobby down to the beach

Just so everyone knows--The present Divi is not at the location where the former Sunset Beach Hotel was, it is just south of town.

 

The former Sunset Beach was torn down several years ago and nothing is going on although a hotel is supposed to be built sometime on that site. The site is north of town.

We stayed at the Sunset Beach Hotel twice about 22 years ago when our kids were small. Bonaire was a very quiet island back then.

We were back in 2/2008 on the Crown Princess & were very sad to see the hotel gone. I remember walking right into the water off the beach for the most amazing snorkeling!

There was a huge beach bar & restaurant that we spent many nights at listening to local musicians. What great memories we have!
