Hi,

Our cruise end in Vancouver in July and we wanted to go to Butchart Garden after that. Does anyone know what are the transports options from Canada Place to Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal?

Is it better to rent a car and took the Ferries over or take a cab and cross by via ferries and rent a car at Swartz Bay?

thanks

Here are your options:

To go by cab would be quite expensive, I would guess the fare would be about $100 +/-.

You could rent a car, which you have suggested. If you schedule is tight then you may want to make a reservation for the ferry. http://www.bcferries.com/

You could go by Pacific Coach Lines which is not a bad way to go. http://pacificcoach.com/

You could go by transit but that is a bit cumbersome if you have much baggage. There are also transit buses that will take you from the Swartz Bay terminal into downtown Victoria, the ride would be about an hour. http://www.translink.bc.ca/ or www.busonline.ca/regions/vic/

There is also the option of taking a float plane service from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria but it runs about $250 pp rtn.

We only have 1 day for Victoria so to save some time we have booked a floatplane with Harbour Air from Vancouver Airport (our hotel is in MetroTown) to Victoria and are coming back via pacific Coach Lines (which includes ferry).

Just thought I had better let you know, the gardens are in Saanich which is quite a distance (1/2 hour) north of Victoria. Are you planning to take a tour bus from downtown? If so, here is the contact info http://www.victoriatours.org/tours/tourType.cfm?ttid2=5453

You might like to save some time to walk around the harbour in the downtown area, before you take the ferry back. It is memorable!

The last bit of info you should know is that downtown Victoria is on the southern end of the peninsula, Butchard Gardens are north of there and the ferry is only a few minutes north of the Gardens. You could be wasting a lot of time going back and forth into Victoria. Check it out on Google maps. You may just want to catch a cab to the ferry from the Gardens and get the bus on the ferry itself. You can buy the bus tickets during the first 30 minutes of the ferry trip.

I live an hour and a half away from Victoria. If you wish further info you could email me mains_dream@yahoo.com
