Enchantment 6/13

Recommended Posts

Renaissance Hotel good choice. Walk over the bridge and you can see the ship.

Trolley to beach $1.00 each way.

Walgreens across the street. Take lots of bottled water. Ship water was a light brown color the entire trip.

Great Italian restaurant across the parking lot.

Arrived at dock 11:30. On board by 12:00. Luggage about 1:30.

Alcohol taken out of carry-on, fill out paper work, returned last night.

Alcohol in checked bags, no problem.

4 JS deck 8. 3aft. I don't like to sleep moving sideways! Lots of storage space, clean, very comfy bedding.

Ship very crowded. Deck 10 aft moved chairs near rock wall, great place to sun away from crowds.

Route to Cayman shortened, ship moved very slowly, smooth sailing.

First night in dining room told not necessary to dress formally and SHORTS were ok the last three nights. Lots of people did wear shorts to dinner.

Very impressed with Chops. The lamb loin was fabulous. Dining room food was not great except for bread, salad and dessert. Wait staff were perfect.

Lots of very disappointed golf fans. No US OPEN on tv.

Took cab to Seagrape Beach on 7mi. Was not nearly as nice as we hoped. $10.00 for an old chair. Walked down the beach, saw the Ritz Carlton, hopped a cab and had lunch there.

Our first time to tender, went just fine both ways.

We love Playa del Carmen so took cab to get the ferry. On the other side of the large resort the beach and water are beautiful. It is a long walk but you can take a cab to the Shangri-la Caribe. Lunch at La Parrilla on 5th street is our favorite. Lots of great shopping from flea market to high fashion.

Early arrival in FL. 2:30am. Left the room at 8:00. Waited in the Viking Crown(deck 11 great view) with just a handful of other people. Raining and we had a 3:00 flight back to Houston.

We took a cab to The Hard Rock Casino about a 20min. ride, just past the airport. They held our bags and we enjoyed one of the nicest casinos we have been to. Really nice pool area also.

We are sailing in Sept. so I love reading the reviews of her.

Sounds like there were good & bad points as to be expected on any vacation. So what was up with the water? You said it had a brown tint all week? Even in the dining room or just in your room tap?

Thanks again & if you have pictures you would like to share I'm sure there are plenty of us to look at them :)

So there was no formal night? Is this something new that shorts are allowed in the dining room every night? We are doing the 5 night on the enchantment in Aug and I like to have my family dress nicely for dinner, but they will revolt if everyone else is wearing shorts.

I was on the Enchantment 5/31. Formal night was the second night (sea day), and I was pleasantly surprised to see everyone dressed up - it was lovely! I don't recall seeing shorts in the dining room on any night, but I did see a lot of guys with their shirt tales out, and one kid at another table even wore a baseball cap (he was asked to remove it).

The first night our waiter told us we did not need to be formal the next night, but no shorts. He then stated that shorts would be ok the other nights. We were surprised by this. Formal night there were a few people dressed up but mostly snappy casual. The other nights I would guess about 10% wore shorts.

The man sitting behind me looked like he had just come from the gym!

Wear whatever makes you feel good. With everyone seated you can't really tell what's on the bottom half. I like the looks of this dining room much better than The King and I.

We were on the same cruise :D We were delayed leaving Ft Lauderdale due to some scheduled work on one of the bow thrusters and it took longer than expected. That may be why we took the shortend route.

We had a wonderful time and the seas were smoother than any cruise we've been on. Weather was fabulous.

We had JS 8124 and the only problem we had was some chair and cart noise from above. Our cabin steward Daniele was fabulous...best we have ever had!

We had dinner during the main seating and I thought that 90% or more had at least coat and tie on formal night and quite a few tuxes...at least the ones I saw. I did see a couple of pairs of shorts on formal night. We were told the same thing about being able to dress casually on formal night....just no shorts........as I said, we saw them anyway. We questioned our Head Waiter about the shorts and he said that especially on port days that folks just did not want to rush back to the ship and get dressed up and that we're becoming a more casual society and that they were probably not going to turn anyone away for shorts  . We also saw several shorts on other nights. I figured less than 5% IMO I think we tend to over estimate it because we noticed the shorts more. Oh well, it certainly did not ruin my dining experience. We had wonderful tablemates.

I thought the pool are was WAY crowded on the two sea days  Very hard to find a place after 10 a.m.....oh well, the casino was open :o

I thought overall that the food was pretty good.

Oh, LOTS of kids but I'll have to say that they were very well behaved! Great job parents!

We just got off the 6/19-23 cruise and were also delayed until 7:30 because they had divers working on the thrusters. I also notice the brownish tint to the water in the cabin. We were also on deck 8 with Danielle as our cabin steward ( our 2nd time having her) and she is fantastic. Our cabin was below the ping pong tables and we had high volume stomping noises until 2 a.m. every night. Not complaining here, just verifying TexCruise371 and some of the situations that were still ongoing. We have been on the Enchantment 8 times so it will take alot more than this to get me to complain.
