Best transportation from Ft. Lauderdale airport to Miami

Will be flying into Ft. Lauderdale the day before our criuse outta Miami. What's the best transportation from Lauderdale to Port of Miami? Can I rent a car and turn it in at the port? Is it better to stay around Lauderdale that nite or head to Miami and stay near the port? Never flew into Lauderdale OR sailed outta Miami, so any help from you locals or experienced cruisers would be greatly appreciated.

We've picked up the GO shuttle right out front of the airport in Ft Lauderdale several times. It was $18 pp to the port

THANX, but since we're flying in the day before, I really need something like a car rental. Anyone else have any ideas?

You might want to check out DOLLAR rental.

 

They have an INTERMINAL rental there. I am flying out of FLL from a cruise in MIAMI and just got a great deal on a mini van one-way rental thru them coming home. only $51 bucks

They have an option for cruise pick up only.

 

The DOLLAR in Miami is at Miami Airport, but it is only a few miles (3-5) away from the port. They will also come get you after you disembark t pick up the vehicle.
