I was just thinking way ahead and was wondering what to do in freeprt for the day... when we went to antiqua we went to pineapple beach resort and paid i think it was like 50.00 pp for use of the resort and its amenities including drink and food for 8 or 9 hours does anyone know if any of the resort in Nassau offer this or something similar??? I would rather book it my self and not thru the cruise line

The only AI on GBI is Viva Fortuna and it is a Wyndham resort. I think you can get a day pass for around $60pp.... The problem is transportation. A cab from the port is around $10 to $15pp each way if the cab is full. There is no bus or jitney. Viva is by itself and it is not near shopping/casino/etc.

Just info - I've had a great time but we were staying for several days.

Our Lucaya is usually $5pp each way shared cab.

Use the Link King has above for more info.

Hi I will be on that same cruise. I have heard that Freeport is not very nice. I will probably just walk around a bit and then head back tot he ship. I hear that on port days the ships are empty.

Hope to talk to you in Roll Call

there's nowhere to "walk around a bit" near the dock.. it's a commercial dock.. quite a distance from anything you'd want to see.

Freeport's Lucaya community is quite nice. Lovely hotels and beaches as well as a shopping village with many restaurants and Bars (Port Lucaya).

If there is a tour to Junkanoo Beach Club or Taino Beach, that would be a good thing to look into.

How long are you in port? As scubagirl said the pier/port has nothing like Nassau or many other ports. You might find a couple of vendors near where the taxis are but nothing else.

You will have a good time going to Our Lucaya or staying onboard. I have heard about a excursion that is "jeeping". The island is big and is almost 100 miles long. You are about a 1/4 of the way from the West end.
