Merc85 Posted July 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2008 We'll be taking an Alaskan cruisetour the end of August and have a question about luggage. Since we'll have two bags each, does RCCL have the option of us packing one bag for the land portion of the cruisetour (we start in Fairbanks) and then pack the second bag for the ship (Radiance). Then they can take the second bag from us as soon as we get into Fairbanks and just deliver it to our room so we (and they) don't have to worry about it for the land tour portion? I know some friends of ours did a similar tour on Princess a few years ago which started in Fairbanks as well and that's how Princess suggested they do their luggage. Does RCCL do so as well? Thanks ahead of time for the info.
KingDoggie Posted July 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2008 I just finished cruisetour #12 a few weeks ago. On the first day they provide you with 2 different types of bag tags. One tag tells them you want your bag delivered to your room each evening. The other tag designates that the bag stays on the bus the whole time. If you have a rail leg, the bus travels to the next location with all the baggage.
Lightsluvr Posted July 1, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2008 King Doggie is correct - that was a great tour, wasn't it??? The luggage routine is very simple and very efficient. We put all our cruise stuff, formal wear, etc. in one large bag. We never saw it again until the last night of the cruise tour. The other luggage is picked up outside your hotel room each morning and shows up at your next stop when you arrive in the evening. Each piece of luggage is assigned a tag number and is checked at each stop to verify it's accounted for. Your cruise tour director and driver work very hard to make this a smooth, painless experience. If you're really lucky, you'll get Adam as your director. :) LL
