ginamaddog Posted July 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2008 the last cruise we went on was in 2001.....we had to bring our own hole punch to punch holes in the key to the world card.....do they do this for us now or do I still need to bring the hole punch? Mozart527 Posted July 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2008 They don't come with holes punched in them, but they do have lanyards for sail that you can use to hold your cards. At one time, they were giving lanyards out to Castaway Club members, which you are since you've sailed before, but they recently made some changes to the gifts and I'm not sure if they still give out lanyards. ducklite Posted July 2, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 2, 2008 We used the pointed tip of the corkscrew we brought with us. Worked like a charm. It's super easy if you put a magazine under it.
scottjeanne Posted July 2, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2008 'We were on the Wonder in May and yes they give Castaway Key members lanyards with a clear pocket ot store the key card so you do not need a hole. They will punch a hole in your card for you if you prefer.
Mozart527 Posted July 2, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 2, 2008 You know, I just thought about it. Don't they punch a hole in your card to indicate that it doesn't have charging privileges?
ginamaddog Posted July 2, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted July 2, 2008 thanks yall....just remembered a punched key on the lanyard was much easier to keep up with and I really dont want to pack more than is necessary...and I dont always have pockets.... Hi all....:D new to cruise critic, not to DCL we just book our second trip for Oct 09. And I was told that punching a whole in your KTTW does make it void. I asked a CM onboard cause DS's hated having it around their necks and wanted it on a bungee key change around their belt loops.
owensamo Posted July 6, 2008 #8 Share Posted July 6, 2008 I believe if you punch a hole in the card, it makes it invalid for charging - though it should still make it valid for entry into your room and getting on and off the ship. I suppose if nothing else, it's a great way to keep your stateroom charges down! :D

On DCL we had those plastic pockets that hang off lanyards to keep them in. :) FYI--You can buy them at any sporting goods store in the area with fishing supplies for about $1.
