Onboard Announcements

How frequent are the on-board announcements and how annoying are they? Is there a speaker in every stateroom and if so, is there any way to turn it off if the announcements are bothersome? Thanks!

Somewhere between 1-3 a day average I would say depending whether we are at port or not. They arent annoying or anything, most are done by the cruise director.

I don't mind them.

I've never understood why some paxs get so upset over this. I do find it a little annoying when, as other posters have stated, the CD talks so fast you can't understand him and sometimes the volume must be set UP for rock stars ! ! I sometimes say to myself, "Whatever that was all about, I hope whomever it pertains to, got it" :D

I find some of the announcements humorous. THe announcements for the "art" auction, bingo, the spa specials, the specialty coffee & cake bars, etc. I'm surprise somebody hasn't developed a THEORY OF ONBOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS: "The NUMBER of announcements for an onboard activity is DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL to the SIZE OF THE RIPOFF" :D
