We are sailing out of Vancouver in August on the Seranade of the Seas for our Alaska Trip. Does anyone know what time we are permitted to board on the day of Sailing? We set sail at 5 p.m. on a Saturday (30th).

Thanks for everything!

We are doing the same cruise, but we leave July 26, so I just looked at that info in the booklet RCI sent us. 12:00 is the earliest you can board.

Boarding time or check in time? On our HAL cruise, the ship arrived in port at 7:00 am and we had a 4:00 pm sail away time. The documents HAL sent requested arrival at the port not earlier than 10:30 am to give disembarking passengers time to get out of the area.

We arrived at 10:30 am, checked in, and boarding started at about 11:30 am. So I suspect a rule of thumb is to arrive not earlier than 3.5 hours after the ship docks from its previous cruise. Arriving earlier will just jam up the traffic.

For our HAL cruise leaving Vancouver sail away was 5:00 pm. Documents said boarding was at noon. They started the boarding process at 11:00 am. for anyone in line, and there was quite a line already at 11:00 a.m. However, it was fast and effecient.

We were on the Serenade on 6/14. We got to the pier at 11:45 AM. We were on the ship having lunch by 12:30. Once you leave your luggage on your way into the terminal- there are a few different steps you go through. First there is the health form that everyone must fill out. Then you get your sea pass card. After that for us there was a bit of a wait- they handed out group cards- you lined up when your group was called. Then on to the ship- scan your sea pass and get your photo taken to associate with the card. And on to the ship.

I'm glad we arrived when we did at the ship- not too many people- and once we were on- timing was great to have lunch, explore a bit and our rooms were ready. Our luggage arrived very quickly- before 3:00.
