LeHavre to Harwich

Recommended Posts

Hello again,

We booked a Tran Atlantic for spring and have the one day in LeHavre and one day in Harwich.

My questions are:

Is it reasonable to rent a car in Lehavre to see Normandy, Mont St Michele and possibly Giverny? We have driven in Italy and Holland before. If unreasonable, any other DIY suggestions? We could also take the train to Paris I understand, we arrive on a Saturday. From my readings it seems you cannot go wrong with any choice. But enlighten me if I am incorrect.

When I booked, I did not check carefully enough and it seems I am going to be in Harwich on a Sunday. I have read the train takes anywhere from 70 minutes to 2 and a half hours to arrive in London. Except we are there on a Sunday and it may not run at all, according to a couple of sources. HAL does not have their excursion together yet, but the woman I spoke to said she expected they would be close to 250pp into London. This may be a little crazy, but is it possible to cross on our own from LeHavre to the UK, see Stonehenge, London and then meet the ship again at Harwich before it leaves? If we did this what would be the best way to do so?

Thank you for your assistance.
