AT&T Wireless service in Hawaii??

Has anyone used their cell phone in Hawaii with AT&T Wireless? Is there any roaming fees? Do the islands have good coverage areas? Or would walkie-talkies be better? I know it sounds silly, but it's much better having communication with our DHs so my girlfriend and I can shop in peace. ;)

Yes, AT&T has good cell service throughout the islands. And there is no roaming.
