How long/best way from BOS to pier

You may be able to see the ship from Logan. It's a quick ride through the Ted Williams tunnel to South Boston. I'm not sure of the cab fare, but it should be in the $20 range.

If you want to consider public transportation, you can take the Silver Line for $2/pp. Go to the World Trade Center stop and cross over to reverse your direction (there are escalators and an elevator) and take the SL2/3 to Black Falcon. The Silver Line is a bus. The airport ones are very much like a rental car bus, but lots bigger with room for luggage and plenty of seats. The other configuration doesn't have luggage racks, but it would be almost empty except during the morning rush hour. Boston is trying to promote public transit to the airport, so these services run at least every 10-15 minutes during the day and more often at rush hour.
