we are just wanting to see the sights especially the southern most point. we arent drinkers so no pub crawls or anything :)We just want to either rent bikes or do some other type of public transportation. We arent really interested in a tour, just something we can do at our own pace. any suggestions?

If you take the trolley for one price you can get on and get off at various points and return to a later trolley as often as you wish--not at night, though. The trolley will take you past other sights you might decide you would like to see also.

You could actually just walk to the Southern Most Point if you are that energetic. There are also interesting sights at the Historic Schooner Wharf area, the old cemetery, Hemingway's House and the Key West light house, Truman's Little White House plus the interesting architecture and landscaping of Key West homes.

I don't know how much time you have and what your starting point will be.

As you come off the docks you can walk towards that big, red brick building just in front of you - the Key West Art and Historical Society. It's on Front Street, and just across Front you pick up Whitehead which runs parallel to Duval. You can see what is at the Art & Historical Soicety to see if it is of interest.

Walking south on Whitehead you come within two blocks to Caroline Street and the Audubon House. It's worth a look-see in the shop, but the tour is up to you. Across Whitehead is the entrance to the Truman Annex and the Little Whitehouse. You can walk around the grounds and, again, the tour of the house is up to you. Maybe four or five blocks farther down is the Hemingway House. You have to pay to get into the grounds whether or not you take the tour. And across the street is the Lighthouse. They, too, have a tour and you must pay to walk up to the top, but it's a great view of Key West. At Petronia is the Bahama Village which a few outdoor shops to browse in, and one block off Whitehead at Petronia is Besame Mucho, a nice store.

Finally, phew!, it is another four or five blocks to the Southernmost Point. You can linger there, then walk the one block over to Duval on South Street and make your way north and back to the ship. Flamingo Crossing is at approx the 1200 block - ice cream!
