Mexican port tips

Does anyone have any info on places for a young family to visit while in Cabo, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta for this summer's cruises? Aside from the excursions, my wife and I would like to have our kids (2 years old, 4 y.o. and 6 y.o.) get to see and interact with the locals there a bit. We'll stick to the ship for meals and the lack of car seats in the taxis is a concern, but aside than that, does anyone have any suggestions on where we might go for a few hours of interesting sightseeing? Thank you!
